The Hikers Corner

We weren’t in Payson anymore. We had headed south, way south, like Thomas Rd & 26th St. south. There weren’t any trees, birds chirping, waterfalls flowing. In fact it was hospitals, Church’s Chicken, and lots of barber shops. The place itself looked well… not what you would think serious mountaineers would hang out. But once you went thru the doors the world changed and you were now up in the mountains. The walls were covered with autograph pictures of famous mountaineers, old equipment used to conquer the biggest mountains, and even supplies for those who went deep into the hills looking for gold. Now, being married to a mountaineer who has worked in many of these kinds of stores you wouldn’t think I would be impressed. Except for this one corner.. Hikers Corner. It was something like Barnes & Noble only for those who call themselves true adventurers. The maps could take you to your dreams, the books could lead the path, and the walking stick could help you get to the top. Why was I so entranced? Because the WAY to get to this small hiking shop where impossible dreams came true seemed to be going the opposite direction of where this shop should be.. It should be in the mountains not very far south of AZ. And isn’t that just like God when it comes to our dreams? A friend of mine went to Calif & sent me a video that had the sounds and scenery of the ocean. That’s where I should be, right? And just this week someone from work found me on Instagram & asked if that was me, “Terris Tasty Cupcakes?” Truthfully, I didn’t know how to answer him. That was my dream..to bring JOY thru my cupcakes. And now? I couldn’t tell you what my dream is anymore. But I do know that my loving Father has our family in the best place we could be and whatever HIS dreams are for us they will be more magnificent than WE could ever dreamed. So, if you are wondering why your dreams may have gone “south” be encouraged to just go thru that unassuming door and find a world where dreams really do come true…in the hikers corner😊
